President of TXU Energy Retail
|
Mr. McCoy's address at Success North Dallas will focus on the state of deregulation in the Texas market and on its success, its impact on customers and what the public might expect in the coming period.
Robert G. McCoy, a former senior GTE executive, jointed TXU in July 2000 to head the companys U.S. retail business as president of its TXU Energy Retail unit. He is responsible for all end-user customers in TXUs electricity business and for positioning the company to compete aggressively in Texas open marketplace in 2002.
TXU Energy Retail provides end-to-end energy services solutions for small business, commercial and industrial customers, including energy management programs. After full competition is in place in 2002, these services will be available to residential customers also.
McCoy, who has 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry previously served as GTE President-Retail Markets, where he was responsible for more than $10 billion in revenue and for serving over 15 million customers nationwide.
McCoy also served as president of GTE Long Distance, where he led the companys initiative into the intensely competitive long distance business. Under his leadership, the business grew to more than $300 million in less than two years from its inception following the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Before joining GTE, he held pivotal marketing and sales positions at AT&T and U.S. West.
