President and CEO Gary Gunter
"Idea to Reality - Competing with the Giants"

Mr. Gary Gunter co-founded Lone Star Overnight in 1991. Prior to this, Gary served as a vice-president with Texas Commerce Bank in Houston (now JPMorgan Chase) from 1983-90, where he provided corporate lending services to customers in Texas and Oklahoma. Gary  has a Bachelor and Masters degree in agricultural economics and finance from Texas A&M University. During the year prior to graduate school, Gary  completed the US Army Field Artillery Officer Basic Course.

Gary , 45, along with a friend, developed the idea of competing on a regional basis with the national overnight package delivery companies – FedEx, UPS and Airborne Express/DHL. They wrote the business plan, assembled the initial investor group consisting of individuals located throughout Texas, and began operations in 1991.

In 1994 the company received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for central Texas and in 1996 the company was recognized in the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing private companies. LSO claims to provide the highest on-time reliability in the overnight industry. It serves mid-size and larger metro areas in Texas and expanded into Oklahoma in 2002.

Gary  lives in Austin and is involved with two local business organizations.
