After leaving school Detective Constable Paul Brennan commenced employment with the Chase Manhattan Bank in the Foreign Exchange Dept. and later became a trainee dealer on the London Metal Exchange. Brennan joined the British Army and served three years with the Royal Green Jackets, a Light Infantry Regiment and served overseas in Germany and deployed to Cyprus when the Turks invaded in 1974 ostensibly to protect British interests and to rescue stranded holiday makers caught up in the gun battles. I became a section commander and firearms instructor in a number of small arms and Anti-Tank weapons.

Brennan left the Army and joined the Metropolitan Police Force in December 1976. After 2 years in Uniform, became a Detective and worked on a number of high profile murder investigations and commended in several.

In 1990 Brennan was boarded and accepted as a New Scotland Yard Detective in the Fraud Squad where I gained experience in Timeshare and Foreign Land Frauds. Brennan expanded his experience into Corporate and investment fraud before joining the Serious Fraud Office.

In 1997 Brennan was attached to the Financial Investigation Unit whose primary task was to trace and identify assets of convicted drug traffickers, conduct overseas investigations and initiate Restraint proceedings and prepare confiscation/forfeiture orders through the Crown Courts. One such investigation conducted in Luxembourg netted Her Majesty's Treasury over $2 million in confiscated funds.

In 2001 Brennan became a trainer at the Detective Training School in London and lectured on a wide range of subjects from Advanced Interviewing Techniques to Disclosure and evidence gathering.

In 2003 Brennan returned to the fraud arena and started with the newly formed Assets Recovery Unit, a Multi Agency unit tasked with financially disrupting serious and organized crime. 

In 2004 Brennan joined the Specialist Crime Directorate where he is currently employed and is a trained Financial Investigator authorized by the Home Office in Whitehall and conducted numerous proactive and reactive investigations overseas including the US, Canada etc. Brennan has addressed the International Financial Investigator's conference in Frankfurt, Germany and to date remain the only UK Officer to have attended and addressed conference in German.
