With more than 35 years of experience, Richard Manning has earned a reputation as one of the most experienced leaders in the building products industry.  He has led teams in 12 countries and is fluent in 6 languages, 7 counting Texan.  In his current role as President of Hanson Building Products North America, Manning continues to share his wealth of knowledge on sustainability, having experienced environmental successes and failures in various European countries.

Starting on the ground floor, Manning joined the then London Brick company as a mechanic’s assistant and worked his way up through a variety of jobs from forklift driver to factory manager to Managing Director, a position he held until 1995 when he was appointed chief executive officer of Hanson Brick Europe.

In 2002, Manning was appointed president and chief executive officer of Hanson Brick & Tile, then Hanson PLC’s North American brick and roof tile business.

After successfully merging the seven independent brick companies in America and Canada into Hanson Brick, he was appointed president of all the Hanson Building Products North American manufacturing businesses, covering concrete pipe and precast product manufacturing, as well as brick, tile and hardscapes in more than 150 facilities across the United States and Canada.

Manning has been instrumental in promoting industry initiatives both in the United States and United Kingdom, where he was a past chairman of the Brick Development Association and the Institute of Clay Technology.  Manning is currently on the board of the American Concrete Pipe Association. 

Originally from Bedford, England, Manning resides in Dallas, where he enjoys his other passions – music, all genres except jazz; sports, rugby, baseball and the NFL; and riding his Harley and Bourget Python Chopper.  Manning has two children, Gina and Craig, both whom reside in England.  Craig has followed in his father’s footsteps, working in the brick industry.
